Dag 2: Nationaal Park & het beklimmen van een vulkaan
Vandaag bezoek je het beroemde Timanfaya Nationaal Park van het eiland. Begin vroeg in de ochtend zodat je een van de eersten bent die aankomt in het nationale park. Je krijgt een parkeerplaats en dan ga je in de rij staan voor een bus die je een rondleiding door het spectaculaire vulkanische landschap zal geven. We weten... het klinkt behoorlijk toeristisch en eerlijk gezegd is het dat ook. Maar het is nog steeds iets dat je moet zien als je Lanzarote bezoekt. TIP: laat andere mensen de bus binnen zodat jij de eerste bent die de volgende kan nemen. Op deze manier kun je de voorste rij nemen, wat de uitzichten veel beter maakt! In de middag verlaat je het nationale park om de beroemde Caldera Blanca te beklimmen. Het is een oude vulkaan waarop je helemaal naar de top kunt wandelen en een geweldig uitzicht hebt over de krater, het nationale park en de kust.
Visit the Timanfaya National Park
The Island's most famous natural hotspot is the Timanfaya National Park. These volcanoes where the last to erupt only 300 years ago. For almost 6 years straight they were on fire, changing the entire landscape of this area. Make sure to arrive early and be the first to entire one of the busses that will drive you around the scenic route. This way you will sit at the first row for the best views. After your tour you will see extreme heat that is still in the soil of this park. With a geyser demonstration and even a kitchen cooking with the heat of the earth, you can literally taste this wonder of nature.
Hike to the top of a volcano
Just outside the Timanfaya National Park you will find the Caldera Blanca. This ancient volcano is one of the most popular hikes of the island. From the parking lot it is a 8 km hike in total. You will walk a quite uncomfortable path through the "lava sea", a rocky black lava landscape. When you reach the volcano, you walk all the way to the back from where you start climbing this mountain towards the top. It's a moderate to hard hike but with amazing views over the crater and the surrounding.
