Greece
Greece at its best
Enjoy a traditional lunch, discover one of the most beautiful beaches in Europe, and get lost in the alleys of beautiful Assos.
Lunch at Karnagio
After a relaxing morning at Petani Beach, take the car to the town of "Sami". This way, you will cross a large part of the island, ideal for stopping at a nice viewpoint from time to time. Final destination: the lunch spot "Karnagio". This is a restaurant as you imagine it when you think of Greece. Blue tables, the sea just a few meters away, and the smell of freshly grilled fish coming from the kitchen. The nice thing about vacationing in a lesser-known place, like Kefalonia? For places like this, no reservation is (yet) needed.
Souvenir shopping in Sami
Let the food settle a bit while taking a small walk through the village of Sami. There isn't much to see, but there is a beautiful souvenir shop with unique pieces to keep the Greek feeling with you at home: Dalcas Art. I found the ceramics and special magnets beautiful 😊.
Myrtos Beach Viewpoint
When you search for Kefalonia, you come across hundreds of spectacular images of Myrtos Beach. And rightly so: this beach has been featured multiple times in lists of the most beautiful beaches in Europe. Go to the "Myrtos Beach Viewpoint" (easy to find via Google Maps) and let yourself be amazed by a color palette to behold!
Assos, the most beautiful village of Kefalonia
After visiting Assos in Kefalonia, I wonder why tourists still willingly linger in the hustle and bustle of Santorini... Assos is at least as beautiful and unique in its own right! Pink-yellow houses, bougainvillea plants everywhere you look, small alleys, and clear blue water in a cove to cool off. It is also wonderfully quiet, at least if you arrive around 3-4 PM. Walk through the small village to take in every view, splash and relax in the cozy cove, and finish off with a drink at the "Sea Side" restaurant to catch the last rays of sun.
