The Treasury

Our first stop of the day was again at the Treasury. To reach the treasury you will walk through a gorge, de Siq-gorge. At the smallest point this gorge is just 2 meters wide. Walking through the gorge and getting treated to an amazing view of the Treasury near the end makes this a very spectacular experience.

The Garden Temple

There are a lot of hikes to choose from in Petra. The main road, which is on flat terrain, goes via the Treasury and there are multiple places to stop with facilities like restaurants and toilets. We choose to walk an alternative route which leads to ‘the Garden Temple’ and this route has stunning mountain views.

The Monastery

At the end of this hike we did another final intense uphill hike to ‘the Monastery’ temple. This temple has a strong resemblance to the Treasury, therefore if you are not up for it or not able to you can decide to skip this one. Petra is a big area and we have seen almost everything there is to see in one day. In one day we walked over 35 km! If you want to have a (slightly) more relaxed day then you can decide to split your visit to Petra in two days, or skip the ‘Garden temple’ and the ‘Monastery’
