Steam Train

Our first stop was an old steamtrain called de Al Hijaz Steam train. This stream train has been used in various movies. The train still operates today and you can buy tickets for the Al Hijaz Steam train ride adventure. The adventure reinacts some events of the Great Arab Revolt. It begins when you board the authentic Hijaz Railway train (now diesel, not steam-driven), accompanying an Ottoman force heading to recapture a fortress lost to the revolt fighters. During the last 2 km of the train ride, the train will be attacked by revolt fighters on horses!🐎 It is free to visit and wander around here, I definitely felt Indiana Jones vibes here!

Wadi Rum Jeep tour & Burdah bridge

During our Wadi Rum jeep tour we also stopped at Burdah bridge/arch. A natural arch that was shaped by erosion. This is an awesome spot for making photo’s, you can even stand on top of the arch if you dare!

Miral night camp

After the jeeptour we arrived at the camp. We were spending the night at Miral night camp. This camp is owned and run by the native inhabitants the bedoeinen. At the camp are bungalows and we stayed with 3 girls in one of the bungalows with desert view. In the evening we drove to a sunset point in Wadi Rum but unfortunately it was cloudy. When we came back to the camp the bedouins were preparing a traditional local dinner, with veggies and meat from an underground barbecue. As a vegetarian I also got to enjoy the veggies from the barbecue as they were prepared separately from the meat. Besides the barbecued food there were also middle-eastern salads, pitabread, desserts etc. It was all absolutely delicious. Delicious sweet arabic tea is also being heated on the campfire which is available all day. After going to bed and sleeping for a few hours we woke up at 5 in the morning to go stargazing! This is an must-do in Wadi Rum since its beautiful and there is no light pollution here! It was definately an magical and epic experience to stay in Wadi Rum and I highly recommend visiting Wadi Rum and spending the night here if you are visiting Jordan.
