Tanzania
First acquaintance with Tanzania
Time to say goodbye to Kenya (for now) and cross the border to Tanzania. The day starts with an easy hike to the Marangu Falls at the base of Mount Kilimanjaro. Continue through Moshi, from where many hikers climb to the top of Kilimanjaro, and Arusha, the busy regional capital, to end at the Moivaro Coffee Plantation Lodge.

Crossing the border to Tanzania

Hike to the Marangu Falls at the base of Mount Kilimanjaro
An easy hike through tropical rainforest. Along the way, you’ll pass local fruit farms brimming with avocados, mangos, bananas, and lemons. It’s the perfect chance to learn about the area’s history, traditions, and the daily lives of the Chagga people who call this region home. If you have time, a coffee tour here adds a deliciously local touch to your visit.

Check into Moivaro Coffee Plantation Lodge
Moivaro Coffee Plantation Lodge is an oasis of calm just outside Arusha. Set in a 40-hectare nature reserve, this lodge is pure tranquillity. All bungalows have a porch with a lovely view of the tropical garden and Mount Meru. Go for a stroll on the lodge's walking trail, take a dip in the pool, and end the day by the campfire.
