Waterfalls & wildlife
I kicked off the day with a coffee at The Little Shack in Port Macquarie, right by the water, before heading inland along Waterfall Way. A detour to Dorrigo National Park was well worth it. Later, back on the coast, I stopped at Emerald Beach, where kangaroos roam the dunes and sometimes even hop along the shoreline.

Waterfall Way scenic drive
The Waterfall Way is one of the most scenic drives in New South Wales, winding past countless waterfalls. I drove it solo, stopping first at Dangar Falls, where a short trail takes you down to the base of the falls. From there I continued to Dorrigo National Park. The Skywalk Lookout stretches right over the rainforest. Afterwards, I followed one of the short trails from the visitor centre. A perfect little break and such a nice change of pace on a long drive.

Look At Me Now Headland walk
I went to Look At Me Now Headland near Emerald Beach in the late afternoon, and it completely blew me away. There were kangaroos everywhere, just hopping around and grazing while I walked the track that cuts right through their field. From the headland you can see the beach below, which looked so beautiful in the soft light. I ended up spending hours here, just sitting and watching. At the end I found a spot on the cliffs and stayed for the sunset. Watching the sky change colors over the ocean, with kangaroos still around me, felt really special.
