Last morning in Brisbane
For my final morning, I wandered through the City Botanic Gardens, a calm patch of green right in the middle of the city. From there I crossed the Neville Bonner Bridge, which connects directly to South Bank and the Queensland Museum. After one last look around, I picked up the car and drove out to Mount Coot-tha, a viewpoint that gives you the full sweep of Brisbane and beyond.

City Botanic Gardens
A peaceful green escape right in the middle of Brisbane. The City Botanic Gardens are perfect for a slow morning stroll under huge fig trees and along the river before diving back into the bustle of the city. On Sunday mornings, there is a local market going on.

Neville Bonner Bridge
Crossing the Neville Bonner Bridge takes you straight from the city side into South Bank. It’s a pedestrian bridge with great views of the river and skyline, a quick and easy way to link the gardens with the museums.

Queensland Museum
The Queensland Museum is also free to enter, which makes it even more tempting to step inside. The permanent exhibitions are varied, from natural history to cultural displays, and the dinosaur section is a favorite, with life-sized skeletons, fossils, and immersive displays. Some special exhibitions cost extra, but you can easily spend hours here without paying a cent.

Mount Coot-tha Lookout
Just a short drive from the city, the Mount Coot-tha Lookout gives you the full panorama of Brisbane. From up here you can see the river winding through the city, all the way out to Moreton Bay. A perfect last stop of this trip.
