For us, traveling isn't just about the destination, it's about finding the perfect place to feel at home. During our trips, we always choose at least one unique accommodation with a touch of luxury. This is how we ended up at the Jabal Shams Domes in Oman, run by the creative and hospitable Fahad. He is also the owner of the nearby Jebel Shams Resort. The domes offer the perfect base for the Balcony Walk (W6), a breathtaking hike whose starting point is just a 10-minute drive away.
Built in late 2024, the domes offer everything you need for a comfortable stay. They are spacious and equipped with a large double bed, a picnic table, and a private shower and toilet. During our visit, three domes were in use, with a fourth under construction. Breakfast is served at the Jebel Shams Resort, while for dinner you can visit a local chef across the street. He runs a small shop and prepares delectable dishes, such as chicken with a fresh salad.
The surroundings are phenomenal mountain scenery. In the evening, you can drive to a nearby viewpoint for the most beautiful sunset. When you return, the domes become even more magical: you can enjoy a clear starry sky outside, an experience that is extra special at this altitude in the mountains. It can get quite chilly, but fortunately there is heating in the domes, so you can always relax in comfort. As far as we are concerned, a unique overnight stay with a touch of adventure and luxury!
