In the far east of beautiful Madeira, lies Ponta de São Lourenço (PR8). A trip to this remote corner is a must for those who want to discover the rugged nature of the island. Indeed, Ponta de São Lourenço treats you to imposing panoramas and volcanic cliffs. Due to the combination of the drier climate and northerly winds, the peninsula stands in stark contrast to Madeira's predominantly green vegetation.
Here you won't find metre-high, tropical trees with colourful flowers, but large boulders and a dizzying coastline. On the tough PR8 route, you will encounter several viewpoints and climb steep slopes like an accomplished hiker. There is even an option to spend the night amidst the march-like landscape!
