Seaside hikes, seals and zebras
Today is all about unique locations and wildlife spotting. We take you along Robberg Nature Reserve for a hike along the cliffs while spotting seals. In the afternoon we park our car in Keurboomstrand and take the boat ferry to the private Stanley Island where we spend the night among the zebras.

Spotting seals at Robberg Nature Reserve
Are you in for a spectacular seaside hike including dramatic cliffs, hundreds of seals resting on the rocks below, sand dunes and beaches with waves rolling in. We went for the middle long hike. This will take you between 1,5h - 2h, depending on how long you pause to watch the seals. 🦠Robberg is a beautiful nature reserve located on a peninsula close to Plettenberg Bay. A perfect nature focused stop along the Garden Route. Some practical info: The parking lot is not that big so often the cars are already parked along the small road after the nature reserve toll gate. Make sure to close all windows of your car, there are baboons wandering the parking area. Don't forget your binoculars to spot the seals on the rocks below the cliffs you walk on.
From Robberg to Stanley Island it's a 30 mins. drive. To park your car: follow Plettenberg Bay Keurbooms River Ferries instructions via Google Maps, enter the recreation zone and follow the dirt road underneath the bridge. Park the car on the large parking and step in the small ferry boat of Stanley Island.

Unique stay on an island with zebras
Searching for a unique stay in South Africa? Look no further! We found this great place called Stanley Island. This private island in the river delta close to Plettenberg Bay hosts multiple bohemian styled stone cottages around a large grass field where zebras graze. Wake up with the zebras come to say hallo on your doorstep. The island has a beach bar and restaurant serving great cocktails and delicious food.
