Cosmodrome (exhibition, 360° movie, space observatory)
Activity
€ 1 - 50
The main building on the Kattevennen site is the Cosmodrome. A place where kids (and adults!) can explore the wonders of space in a truly hands-on way. An interactive exhibition guides visitors through the secrets of the universe, from the Big Bang all the way to the cosmos as we know it today.
Our boys were instantly hooked by the many activities they could try out themselves. Touching, experimenting, discovering, the expo is designed to spark curiosity at every turn. They were absolutely fascinated by everything they saw.
At the end of the exhibition, we stepped into a small cinema. Time to sit back and relax, quite literally! The 360° dome screen surrounds you completely. The result is an immersive experience with visuals everywhere you look. We watched The Great Solar System Adventure. At times, it honestly felt like we were on a rollercoaster in a theme park. Quite a spectacular ride!
Afterwards, we got a short explanation about what you can actually see when you look up at the night sky. A great way to bring it all back down to Earth.
The part our kids were looking forward to the most came last: the observatory. This is located in the building next to the planetarium and exhibition. This observatory houses a giant telescope. It was still too bright outside to stargaze, but we did get a close-up view of the sun, even saw some sunspots! My kids were excited, it was clearly a fascinating experience to see something like that in real life.
