Kattevennen is not just a place to enjoy the nature of the National Park Hoge Kempen for a day, it is a full day of fun-filled activities. After an active morning, we were happy to enjoy a moment of rest: lunchtime. We visited Kattevennen on a lovely spring day, so eating outdoors felt like the obvious choice.
If you don’t feel like packing your own picnic, you can order one from the Cosmodrome (either on-site or online). Highly recommended! This picnic is truly a treat. Tasty and beautifully presented, it tastes even better when enjoyed in such a pleasant setting.
The main building of Kattevennen is surrounded by forest, and just behind it, tucked between the trees, you’ll find an artwork called Corpus. Created by Will Beckers, it's a cocoon-shaped sculpture made of steel plates and wooden branches. But it’s not just a piece of art, it’s also a unique picnic spot, complete with a table and small chairs built into and around the structure.
Not far from this hidden gem is a fun playground, perfect for when your kids (like ours!) still have energy to burn. As parents, it gave us the perfect chance to recharge before diving into all the exciting afternoon activities we planned.
