Dieppe Castle and Dieppe Beach
Ready for some beautiful views, fresh sea air, and a delicious dinner with a view?

Start your day with amazing views at Dieppe Castle
For the best views of Dieppe, you just have to visit Dieppe Castle! This castle was founded in the 12th (!) century and has lived through multiple bombardments until it was finally labeled as “monument historique” in the 19th century. To get to the best viewpoint the castle offers, you have to hike uphill for about 20 minutes. This might seem like quite the effort, but we promise you the view is totally worth it. You get an amazing view of both the ocean as well as the city! To your left, you’ll see nothing but sand and the ocean, so amazing! When you look to your right, you’ll see all those little (and big) houses of Dieppe. But amazing views isn’t all this castle has to offer! Nowadays, the castle is also a museum, where you can learn more about the history of Dieppe. You’ll get to see ship models, maps, paintings, and archaeological pieces found in the region which we find very cool. Entry will set you back € 5,50 (less if you’re a child).
If you walk back down, you will find the beach right in front of you.
Stroll along Dieppe Beach
Chances are the weather will not be on your side when you’re visiting Northern France. But whether it’s bikini weather or not, a visit to Dieppe's beach cannot be missed when visiting Dieppe! What’s not to love about a reflective moment of staring at the ocean, birdwatching, or just plain seashell hunting? There’s a walkway right next to the beach, the perfect place to take a walk and get some fresh sea air. What we liked the most, was that tons of World War II memorials from the US and Canada were spread along the coast. These memorials were always beautifully designed, without a single scratch or dirt on them. So impressive to see!
Admire the Turrets Gate
Right by the beach, you can spot the Turrets Gate. You won’t spend hours and hours here, but it still makes for a fun experience near the end of your holiday! The Turrets Gate is the only gate left from the old walls around the medieval part of Dieppe. It’s still really impressive to see how well preserved this is, considering it was built in the 14th century! We felt like we were back in time for a moment ;-)
Your last destination is just a 2-minute walk away.
Dinner with a view at Le Trèfle
On the top floor of Dieppe's casino, you'll find Le Trèfle, a restaurant overlooking the beach. Chances are you probably saw this place from the sea, as they advertise in giant letters “Restaurant Panoramique” on the restaurant/casino front. Admittedly, at first we were a bit skeptical because who goes to a casino for some good food? Turns out, we do! We had a really delicious meal here and have absolutely no complaints. In addition, the interior is really lovely, and you have a beautiful view of the beach. They did not lie when advertising great panoramic views! Last but not least: all the dishes here are beautifully presented, and they taste as good as they look. What more could you want? ;-) Definitely an amazing end to your two days in Dieppe.
