The untouristy part of Algarve

After arriving at Faro airport, head to the region around Tavira for a first - very local - glimpse of Algarve. It made me fall in love immediately with this Portuguese paradise!

Tavira, Portugal

Check-in & chill at design hotel Hospedaria

In a very quiet and local part of the Algarve region, you'll find boutique design hotel Hospedaria. What used to be a local shop, is now a countryside, riad-style hotel with 5 rooms, a pool area, living room and outside restaurant. Entering Hospedaria is like entering your home away from home - at least, that's what I felt in just a few seconds. So peaceful, so stylish and with a lot of space to wind down. What I loved: • The house dog • The homemade breakfast with local produce • Honesty bar made in what used to be a shop ages ago • Tavira and the seaside are just a 5 min drive away • Walk outside the hotel and you can run/walk for 5km in beautiful surroundings All in all: a great choice for boutique hotel lovers!

Tavira, Portugal

Visit the town of Tavira

Tavira: a calming river, thousands of chirping birds, cute authentic cafes and little streets to get lost in. This is such a romantic town! Make sure to visit Tavira when you’re in the Algarve to soak in local life and enjoy some good food. ‘cause there are plenty of options! My favorite (recommended and approved by a local): Bossa. I’ll let the pictures talk to give you an impression about this city.

Cacela Velha, Portugal

Sunset at Cacela Velha

Tucked away in a place with less tourists than many other parts in the region, there is a small village called Cacela Velha. Small, but with great and impressive views! This is a place that attracts a lot of people during sunset and I can clearly see why. A huge beach pops up when approaching the village center and its cute church. Loved the little local cafe where you can eat the yummiest oysters and clams. Hiiiighly recommend!
