The beautiful town of Olhão

When in Algarve, a visit to Olhão is a must. Preferably to stay for a few days, because it is just the most beautiful little town to completely unwind. Even though tourists start to find their way to Olhão, it remains very authentic and local. After just a few hours, you’ll automatically adapt to the living rhythm of the locals: passing by the daily fish market, having an espresso at of the harbour cafes, taking the ferry to one of the nearby islands… This is what they call the southern lifestyle. So if this sounds like a romantic day out to you, go and visit! You won’t be disappointed. Make sure to arrive before midday, so you can get a glimpse of the local fish market and even taste some of the fish 🎣 I recommend to stay here all day and experience true local life in Portugal!

Check-in at boutique stay Casa Céu 🤍

Welcome in Casa Céu, a home away from home 💕 We arrived here right during sunset time and the colours were simply stunning. Nestled in the historical city center of Olhão, this is a guesthouse that makes you feel like one of the locals. For a big part, that’s the result of how the Swiss-Mozambique couple Lara & Dario (& their dog Luz) take care of all guests. They opened this 4-bedroom hotel in 2019 because of their love for authentic Portugal, hospitality, design and food. And you can feel all of that passion throughout the house 🤍 This is your go-to stay in the Algarve if you want the experience the local life, if you love food and if you’re looking for comfort in a beautiful setting. Missing it already!

Dinner at Cha Cha Cha

For dinner head to restaurant Cha Cha Cha in the center of Olhão (5 minute walk from Casa Céu). I bumped into the owner at the vegetable market each morning, so you just know you'll get fresher than fresh ingredients on your plate 😊. They are so kind here and the terrace is cozy. Bon appétit!
