Yoho's stunning waterfalls and scenic views
Yoho, an indigenous expression meaning 'in awe,' perfectly encapsulates the breathtaking experience that awaits you in this national park. Despite its modest size of 1323 km², Yoho can undoubtedly rival the grandeur of Banff and Jasper. With rugged mountains, turquoise lakes, and impressive waterfalls, Yoho National Park has it all. A day on the road, exploring Yoho's hotspots: from splashing waterfalls to a mesmerising turquoise lake.

Check into the Moberly Lodge
Undoubtedly the best base for exploring Yoho National Park, the Moberly Lodge is strategically located in a remote area yet close to the village of Golden and key attractions of Yoho and Glacier National Park. The lodge offers a fresh and diverse breakfast, ensuring you are well-fuelled for your adventurous days.

Hike to the stunning Wapta Falls
A short and easy trail leads to the spectacular Wapta Falls. The path, mostly flat and shaded, provides breathtaking views from a vantage point above the falls before descending steeply to the Kicking Horse River and the base of the waterfall. Be prepared to get wet, as the mist near the falls is surprisingly strong! Trail details: 🔹 Trail length: 4.8 km 🔹 Elevation gain: 125 m 🔹 Duration: 1h30 🔹 Type: out-and-back

Quick stop at Natural Bridge on the way to Emerald Lake
Just 20 minutes from Wapta Falls you'll find Natural Bridge, located conveniently next to the car park. It's a fascinating rock formation shaped by the river's flow. Walk over the rocks or go to the lookout on the other side for a different viewpoint.

Emerald Lake: 50 shades of blue
With beautiful turquoise water and surrounded by mountains, Emerald Lake reflects a picturesque scene. Enjoy leisurely hikes along the shoreline or canoeing on the lake. Since canoeing is rather expensive, opt for the 5.2 km trail around the lake or just stick to the left side of the shore for a short walk with the best views. In the distance, spot Burgess Shale high in the Rockies, a site where thousands of fossils were discovered.

Save the best for last: Takkakaw Falls
Takkakaw Falls, the second-tallest waterfall in Canada at 373 meters, offers a spectacular sight. When driving up to the waterfall you can already get a glimpse of this natural wonder, but the best views are from the short trail taking you close to the falls. Be prepared to get wet again as the mist is even more intense than at Wapta Falls.
Dinner at Golden’s best restaurant
