Hike around the Eibsee
About a 1.5-hour drive from Ehrwald, lies the Eibsee, a destination that transports you to a whole other world beneath the majestic shadow of the Zugspitze. There is a paved trail around the lake and it's about 8 km long. It is definitely worth taking this hike! It can get busy around the Eibsee, so try to esape the crowds by leaving early or later on the day. We hiked in the late afternoon and it wasn't busy on the trails. As you embark on your hike around the Eibsee, you'll be greeted by breathtaking vistas at every turn. The crystal-clear waters of the lake mirror the towering peaks of the surrounding Bavarian Alps, creating a scene of unparalleled natural beauty. Along the trails, you'll encounter beautiful forests teeming with diverse flora and fauna, including vibrant wildflowers. As you continue your journey, you'll discover charming alpine meadows where you can pause to take in the serenity of the landscape. Be sure to keep an eye out for hidden waterfalls cascading down the rocky slopes! After a rewarding day of exploration, you can unwind by the shores of the Eibsee, perhaps enjoying a picnic or a bottle of wine ;-). Après-ski at the Brent Alm
Make your way back to Ehrwald to end this mini mountain retreat with some typical Après-ski vibes. Find yourself a place on the terrace or inside and enjoy the atmosphere! Kick back with a refreshing drink from the bar, where you can enjoy local beers, hot wine or, my favorite, an Aperol Spritz :). For those craving a bite to eat, you can order nice dishes such as cheese fondue, schnitzel, currywurst with pommes and hearty soups. The après-ski at Brent Alm is an experience not to be missed during your winter getaway!
