Visit Angkor Wat
Activity
€ 50 - 100
Visit Angkor Wat after having some lunch. The big mass of tourists is already gone by now, which leads in having the site almost to yourself. Angkor Wat is not only a symbol of Cambodia, appearing on the national flag, but also a UNESCO World Heritage Site, drawing millions of visitors annually. It is the most iconic and well-preserved temple in the Angkor Archaeological Park, built in the early 12th century as a Hindu temple dedicated to the god Vishnu, but it gradually became a Buddhist site by the end of the century. The temple is a three-tiered pyramid crowned by five lotus-shaped towers. The central tower rises to a height of about 65 meters. The temple's walls are adorned with extensive bas-reliefs and carvings, depicting scenes from Hindu epics as well as historical events.
