During our trip to Lake Como, we rented a small boat to explore the lake's most beautiful villas from the water — a magical way to take in the region’s charm. One of the highlights was Villa Monastero in Varenna, a stunning villa with a history dating back to the 12th century when it was originally a Cistercian convent.
Surrounded by lush botanical gardens and offering breathtaking views across the lake, the villa is known for its elegant architecture and richly decorated interiors. Walking through its arched loggias and patterned tile floors while looking out over the sparkling water felt like stepping into a dream.
