In the Vorderkaserklamm you go back in time. At the end of the Ice Age, meltwater from the glaciers carved a gorge in the surrounding rocks. About 12,000 to 14,000 years ago, the canyon (Klamm) came into being. The churning mountain river chops 5 to 6 mm of rock out of the rock every year.
Start at the Vorderkaserklamm Alm. This is a 5 minute drive from the first parking lot where you have to pay a parking fee. Near the alm, parking is for free and you save about 3 kilometers of hiking up.
The total trip around the Vorderkaserklamm is about 2,5 kilometers with an ascent gain of 130 meters.
