Thessaloniki
Thessaloniki honestly surprised me in the best way. It’s one of those cities that doesn’t try too hard — it just is. Super chill vibe, friendly people, and a perfect mix of history and everyday life. I spent most of my time just walking around with no plan, discovering random corners, cute cafés, and hidden viewpoints. The waterfront was my go-to spot — especially at sunset. I’d grab a coffee (freddo espresso, of course), sit by the sea and just watch the sky change colors. Simple, but so perfect. The old town (Ano Poli) was one of my favorite areas — narrow streets, old houses, and beautiful views over the city. Plus, getting lost up there felt like part of the charm. Thessaloniki felt like a place where you can slow down, breathe, and just be. I’d go back in a heartbeat.

Meteora
I did a day trip to Meteora while I was in Thessaloniki, and honestly — it was one of the most surreal places I’ve ever seen. I booked it through GetYourGuide for 56 €. The views were absolutely breathtaking — massive rock formations with ancient monasteries sitting right on top, like something out of a fantasy movie. We had enough time for photos, a bit of quiet wandering, and just taking it all in. It’s hard to explain the feeling of being there, but something about Meteora makes you feel small in the best possible way. Peaceful, powerful, and totally worth the early wake-up.

Zeus is Loose Hostel
I stayed at Zeus is Loose Hostel in Thessaloniki, and honestly, it was the perfect base for my solo adventure. Located right in the heart of the city on Klisouras Street, it's just steps away from Aristotelous Square and within walking distance to major attractions like the White Tower and the Jewish Museum. The hostel itself is vibrant and modern, with a rooftop terrace that offers stunning views of the city—a great spot to relax after a day of exploring. The rooms are clean and comfortable, featuring air-conditioning, private bathrooms, and soundproofing to ensure a good night's sleep. What I loved most was the friendly atmosphere. The staff were welcoming and always ready to help with recommendations or booking tours. They even organize events like walking tours and bike rentals, which made it easy to meet other travelers and experience the local culture. Overall, Zeus is Loose Hostel provided a comfortable and social environment that enhanced my Thessaloniki experience. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a lively and convenient place to stay in the city.
