Edinburgh Airport - Loch Lomond
Today, the road trip through Scotland kicks off! First, you'll pick up your vehicle in Edinburgh, before you hit te road. Along the way, you'll discover various charming stops on your first day. You'll then drive along Loch Lomond, heading towards a campsite by the lake.
Let the Scottish adventure begin! 🏴
Upon arrival at the airport, head over to Green Motion car rental to pick up your vehicle. The car comes equipped with a tent, a box with basic food supplies for the week, a table, chairs, and dining utensils. Once you have received all the necessary items, it's time to set off. Remember, in Scotland, you drive on the left side of the road and the steering wheel is on the right side. It might take some time to get used to shifting gears with your left hand 😅
A mansion and silver horses
As you start driving along the winding roads, there are some fascinating stops to enjoy. Make a visit to Callendar House, a grand mansion with a rich history and beautiful gardens. Also, you can also make a stop at the Kelpies, huge horse-head sculptures that are a striking sight along the way. The perfect place for a coffee as well!
Loch Lomond & Cashel Campsite 🏕
Next up is the scenic route by Loch Lomond, Scotland's largest freshwater lake. End the day at Cashel Campsite, nestled by the lake, and set up your rooftop tent for the first time! (Make sure to check in by 8 PM). Still got some energy left? Nearby, in Balmaha, you can go on several hikes. The most popular one is to Conic Hill, where you'll get breathtaking views of Loch Lomond and the surrounding mountains.
