Trainride from Kandy to Ella

The famous train ride from Kandy to Ella. If you are planning a trip to Sri Lanka there is no doubt that you've heard of this before. Even though it's well known amongst tourists, it stays an incredible experience. Don't underestimate it though because this train ride takes up to 7 hours! My advice is to make a stop in between. My friends and I made a stop at Nuwara Eliya which is the perfect place to go for a beautiful hike. Make sure to get a ticket in 2nd class, this way you'll have a comfortable seat and open doors. Because let's be honest, that's what this whole train ride is about, isn't it? 🤭 Hanging outside those doors admiring waterfalls and monkeys along the way! Keep in mind that the trains in Sri Lanka aren't always on time, sometimes it even gets delayed by hours. However, this is not always the case to be there on time and just go with the flow ;) Bring some snacks a card game and let it be an adventure! You can look up the train times through the shared link.
