The first Petra hike
On our fourth day it was finally time to visit Petra, for which we were really excited. We got up really early in Dana to make sure we arrived at Petra around 6:00 in the morning to avoid the huge tourist crowd. Despite the chilly morning, it was beautiful to enter Petra during sunrise, with almost nobody around. We started off with the main trail where we encountered the famous Treasury after just 20min of walking. We continued the main trail until the end, but during the calmth it would have been a good idea to already do a first side trail. At the end of the main trail, we started the road to the highest point of Petra and also did another side trail. Petra is even more stunning and beautiful than all the pictures, and just walking around there is an amazing experience itself. But... after 6 hours of walking, we called it a day for our first day in Petra and went for some rest in our hotel.
Sightseeing in Petra
There are some nice side trails to do in Petra, like the one to the highest viewpoint of Petra, or to a viewpoint from above on the Treasury. Be warned that the latter does not have a way down and you have to walk the way back (unless you pay the guy from the tent a fee).
