Roadtrip to Calp
If you do have an extra free day to spend not working, then Calp is the perfect place to enjoy the more unspoiled side of the stunning Costa Blanca nature. We rented a car with Sunny Cars in Alicante city and dropped it of at Alicante Airport for our flight home, which was definitely one of the highlights of our trip.

Admire the view from Mirador Morro de Toix
Calp's coastline is so unique that it deserves its own viewpoint stop and Mirador Morro de Toix is the perfect place to do so. It's quite the drive uphill (our Fiat 500 made it so so can you), but the reward at the top is stunning.

Hike El Peñón de Ifach
If Calp is known for one thing, it's of course El Peñón de Ifach, the impressive rock formation emerging from the crystal blue ocean. And the best part is that you can also hike all the way to its top. The hike or 'Ruta roja' consists of two parts: one relatively easy pathway uphill until a small tunnel through the rocks, and one harder and much more dangerous part to reach the top. Full transparency: we love a good hike but this second part was too much for us, as the further we went, the more it looked like rock climbing than hiking. The views are definitely worth it, but some hiking experience and no fear of heights are definitely a must here. However, even the first and very doable part itself is definitely worth it visiting.

Enjoy a scenic drive along the coast to Cueva de los Arcos
After that challenging hike, reward yourself with a relaxing drive along the Costa Blanca to our final stop: Cueva de los Arcos at Cala del Moraig. It's about a 30-minute drive from Calp that takes you through cosy little coastal towns and with stunning Hollywood Hills-like views along the way. Park your car at Cala del Moraig and make your way down to the beach. There, it won't be hard to spot the rock formation where the caves are, but reaching the cave will admittedly be much easier during summer when you can swim. Bringing a picknick to enjoy the sunset at the beach would be an even more perfect ending to this day and trip.
