Discover a perfect combination of city & beach in Alicante
Even though Alicante is one of the Costa Blanca's main cities, it's the perfect decor for some morning or afternoon exploring.

Walk along the Explanada de España and Calle de Las Setas
In Alicante, you can find two iconic streets not too far from each other. The Explanada de España is a picturesque boulevard next to the beach and port known for its beautiful tiles and lined with palmtrees. Here you can also find some market stalls which make for some extra cosy strolling, especially at night. The Calle de Las Setas is better known as 'mushroom street' and yes, it looks as surprising as it sounds. But this unique street is definitely a must-see, and will add some magic to your visit especially when traveling with little kids.

Discover the smells and flavors of the Mercado Central
Have you really been to a Spanish city without visiting the local market? In Alicante, the Mercado Central is divided into sections of meat, fish and vegetables, and is definitely a must-visit to enjoy some true local delicacies. My suggestion would be to try and go early, as we went a little after noon and many of the vendors had already closed.

Barrio Santa Cruz: Alicante's most beautiful district
If you're anything like me and always look for the historic part of cities first, then you have to make your way up to Barrio Santa Cruz, named Alicante's most beautiful district and for good reason. Starting at the Plaza del Carmen, you will find a maze of tiny colorful streets with the most picturesque houses. And at the top you're rewarded with amazing views of the city as well.
