Our day in Rome started at the Spanish Steps, a lively and elegant place to begin exploring the city. From there, we walked through the busy streets towards the famous Trevi Fountain. The sound of the water and the beautiful sculptures made it one of the most memorable stops of the day.
Next, we visited the Pantheon, an impressive ancient building with a huge dome and a fascinating history. Standing inside, it was amazing to realise how old and well preserved it still is. We then continued to the Monument of Victor Emmanuel II. After climbing to the top, we were rewarded with a stunning panoramic view over Rome.
We then explored the free area of the Roman Forum, walking among the ruins of temples and buildings from ancient Rome. Even without entering the paid areas, it was fascinating to imagine how life in the city looked thousands of years ago. We ended our day at the Colosseum, Rome’s most iconic landmark. Seeing it in real life was the perfect ending to our walk through the Eternal City.
Parking Tip: If you are visiting Rome, I recommend parking at Piazza di Spagna – Villa Borghese, a secure parking area just a short walk from the Spanish Steps. We paid only 18 euros for a whole day.
