Solitaire

When you are driving from Sesriem to Swakopmund you need to stop at the nicest petrol station of Namibia. Fill your petrol tank and check your tires, there is also a tire repair shop). Solitaire is also a nice stop for lunch or to buy a snack on the way. There are a couple of rusted oldtimer cars.

Tropic of Capricorn

About an hour, 50 km past Solitaire you’ll cross the Tropic of Capricorn. One of the most photographed spots in Namibia. The big white sign is precisely located along route C14, the dirt highway past Rehoboth.

Ocean sunset

Continue across the gravel plains of the Namib Desert toward Namibia’s largest coastal town, Swakopmund. Check out the town’s beaches, walkways, German architecture, restaurants, etc. There are also shops to restock your foods and drinks. Find a nice camping spot along the town’s beaches. The sunsets over the ocean are breathtaking. Our campsite was Windpomp 14, where you have a cabin with private bathroom and kitchen area inside at your camping spot.
