This trip is about the expedition to Kang Yatse II (6,300 m), one of the iconic and accessible peaks of Ladakh, India. It begins with 3 acclimatisation days in Leh (3,500 m), the capital of Ladakh, where you adapt to the altitude, before starting the 10-day expedition. The trek passes through the Markha Valley, with arid plains, deep gorges, and snow-capped passes above 4,900 m. Along the way, you experience the blend of Indian and Tibetan culture, from monasteries to remote hamlets. A demanding but unforgettable journey, combining high-altitude adventure with splendid Himalayan scenery.
I went in the second half of September, right at the end of the season, and we were the last group on the mountain. The expedition itself cost around EUR 1,250, with the rest of the budget covering flights, acclimatisation days in Leh, and a couple of days in Delhi.
