Mexico

We're off to Mexico (just in time!)

Our Mexico holiday was a bumpy road... And that's not only because there are a lot of unexpected road bumps in Mexico. Our plane to Mexico left on the 13th of March, 2020 in the morning. Few hours later, Belgium went into COVID-19 lockdown, and so did the airport. But, we were on our way to Mexico and we were very excited!

Brussels - Cancún - Playa del Carmen

° Flight from Brussels to Cancún with TuiFly Recommended (despite the delay we had) ° Arrival at Cancún and pick up of rental car (Thrifty) Our flight was delayed and Thrifty had already cancelled our rental car because we were a few hours later than what we had reserved. So, keep in mind that it's good to inform the rental car company in case of delays. They had our flight number, so they should have checked and known... ° Drive to Playa del Carmen (approximately 50 minutes) We didn't want to drive for too long after our flight, so we decided to stay one night in Playa del Carmen. We didn't want to stay in Cancún, so we opted for Playa del Carmen. ° Playa del Carmen We stayed in an appartment with rooftop terrace and a plunge pool. Casa Naaj apartments, Avenida 20 Norte y Calle 28 No 24, 77710 Playa del Carmen, Mexico In the evening, we discovered Playa del Carmen. As expected, it's mainly big hotels and one big touristy street. It could not charm us. We had dinner at a typical Mexican restaurant: La Perla Pixan Cuisine & La Carboneria. The tacos were great, but the cocktails (in our opinion) disgusting: extremely salty and heavy.
