The boutique hotel of boutique hotels | El Palauet del Priorat
You literally roll from an extensive delicious dinner to bed and back to the table for a hearty breakfast... This calls for some movement! Impressed by the region and with an Indian summer day ahead, we chose to delay our ride towards Lleida by a few hours. Read here the full description of this gem of boutique hotels: Small-scale, charming, colorful, excellent cuisine, and oh so hospitable. Hidden in the narrow streets of the village of Cornudella de Montsant, this gem is located. The whole story fits here, beautiful living room, cozy and spacious rooms with wonderful beds and then the restaurant... As if the picture is not complete enough, this is the cherry on the cake. Located in the cellars or rather cave under the hotel, you are served a tasting menu to die for. Served with wines and house wines (because yes, they do that too) from the region, an arsenal of their own olive oils (because yes, they do that too) and very friendly staff. Tip: Next to the hotel, they also have a small shop where they sell their own wines and olive oils. Hike to the highest point of Serra de Montsant
You need to set aside 5 hours for it, but it's absolutely worth it! The region is so beautiful that you undoubtedly have endless stunning hiking routes. We left directly from our hotel (El Palauet del Priorat in Cornudella de Montsant) with our hiking shoes on towards the massive rock wall that dominates the surroundings. In summary, the hike of panoramic views! Tip: You can find the route on komoot via the link! Tip tip: bring a lunch and enough water (although you are probably already satisfied after dinner & breakfast), as you won't encounter anything to eat and/or drink along the way. - This experience is part of the Grand Tour of Catalonia part II
Beer & a snack
After 17 km and 700 meters of elevation gain, you slide your little feet under the table on the terrace at Restaurant Íntim for a cold beer with a colorful bowl of olives.
With the mountains/hills of Priorat behind you, you drive back into a flatter landscape here, again very surprising!
Brewery Zeke | Lleida
After days of paellas and fine dining, it was time for a tapas evening. No reservations, so it's a matter of arriving on time! The bartender who spoke broken English was shocked by our order of 8 different types of tapas: "too much, too much!" The man seemed quite convinced of his case, so we brought it back to a reasonable 6 different tapas. Thanks to our neighbors, we ultimately ended up with 8... We blame our spot at the bar where you see one delicious tapas after another passing by, making choosing quickly become your motto for the evening. Enjoy your meal!
