Admire the world-famous Colosseum

Being one of the Seven Wonders of the World, it is pretty obvious that you can’t skip the Colosseum when visiting Rome. The Colosseum is an absolute must-see for anyone visiting Rome! With over 2000 years of history, this ancient stadium is a true testament to the grandeur of the Roman Empire. The view from the outside is already impressive, but the inside will literally blow you away! Immerse yourself in the rich culture and history of the past, and experience the excitement of the gladiatorial battles that took place inside these walls.

Your next stop is less than 100m away. In fact, it’s already visible from some balconies inside the Colosseum, so chances are you’ve already seen it (from afar).

Explore the Roman Forum

The Roman Forum was the most important site in ancient Rome. Nowadays, you can visit the ancient ruins and architectural fragments that were left behind. Let’s explore the heart of ancient Rome at the Roman Forum! This historic site is a must-see for history buffs and culture enthusiasts. Discover the political, social and religious center of the Roman Empire and wander through the grand ruins of temples, basilicas and public spaces that once stood at the heart of Roman life. With its rich history and stunning architecture, the Roman Forum is truly a unique and unforgettable experience. Strolling through the Roman Forum is quite the immersive experience, try to imagine the area as it once was.

Exit the Roman Forum, visit the amazing viewpoint we shared above, and head over to your next destination. It’s only a 5 minute walk, and along the way you’ll come across Piazza del Campidoglio - an amazing square designed by Michelangelo. If you’re not in a rush, feel free to admire its beauty and architecture!

Admire the Victor Emmanuel II Monument

The Victor Emmanuel II Monument is situated at Piazza Venezia. It is an impressive white marble building dedicated to Vittorio Emmanuel II, the first king of Italy. You can climb to the top to enjoy a splendid view. Up to here is free, if you want to go up another floor you have to pay. Personally we found the free part already very spectacular so we did not find it worthwhile to go even higher. If you do want to enjoy the panoramic view, admission costs 15 euros each (2 euros if you’re 25 or under).

You’ll probably be thirsty after all that sightseeing, especially with the Italian sun shining down on your head all day. No worries, our next stop is less than 5 minutes away and will quench your thirst!
