This past autumn, we had the pleasure of spending time in Rocca San Giovanni, where my father-in-law recently purchased a holiday home. Nestled in the beautiful Abruzzo region, the village offered a perfect blend of history, charm, and stunning landscapes.
During our stay, we explored several nearby towns and cities. In Pescara, we enjoyed the lively seaside atmosphere and walked along the long sandy beaches. Lanciano captivated us with its historic streets. Of course, we spent time in Rocca San Giovanni itself, soaking in the peaceful countryside and the breathtaking views of the rolling hills and coastline.
One of the highlights of our visit was experiencing the olive harvest. The trees were full of ripe olives, and it was beautiful to see the locals carefully picking them by hand. Being part of this age-old tradition, even just as observers, made our stay feel truly connected to the rhythm of life in Abruzzo.
We also took a trip to Rome, where we immersed ourselves in the rich history and iconic landmarks. It was a wonderful mix of cultural exploration and relaxing moments in a cozy Italian setting.
This trip was a perfect reminder of Italy’s diversity: vibrant cities, historic towns, serene villages, and the warm charm of the Adriatic coast. Autumn proved to be an ideal season to enjoy both the sights and the slower pace of life in this stunning region.
