For those who want to soak up a bit of culture and architectural art, the Monasterio de Santa María de Rioseco is an ideal stop on this road trip. It is a Cistercian monastery located in the northern part of the province of Burgos, in the region of Las Merindades. This monastery is an important monument for its architectural and historical value and offers a fascinating insight into the religious and cultural history of the region. It is nice to take a walk through the monastery, which was being restored at the time of our visit.

Smallest city in Spain: Frías

Frias, located in the province of Burgos, in the Las Merindades region, is the smallest and one of the top 3 most beautiful towns in Spain. The eye-catcher of this city? A castle built on a rock flank that towers magnificently above the town. During our road trip we arrived in this town in the evening. Ideal for an evening walk through these picturesque streets and a terrace on the square. We stayed in hotel Frías which is located in the center, highly recommended! No cars are allowed, but just before you enter the city there is a large parking lot.
