Sunrise at Wat Phra That Doi Suthep

Start your day with a breathtaking sunrise at Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, located on top of Doi Suthep mountain. This magnificent temple offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape, making it the perfect spot to witness the beauty of a new day. But, to experience all this beauty, we do have to warn you: the walk up is not for the weak! Sure, the early morning breeze provides some refreshment for going up the stairs. Nonetheless, it’ll take you a good 15 minutes to reach the top. By going early, you avoid the crowds which totally adds to the serene atmosphere of this place.

Drive 12 minutes to your next destination.

Visit Wat Pha Lat, a temple hidden in the jungle

Halfway up (or down) Doi Suthep mountain you’ll find Wat Pha Lat, a unique temple hidden in the jungle. The whole scenery creates a serene and peaceful atmosphere, perfect to unwind! Wander around the area to find some sacred buildings, tons of statues, and a small river full of fish. The whole setting comes straight out of a (Buddhist) fairytale! When we visited, we were the only ones here apart from one family that came with a tour guide. We have the feeling that it’s still pretty unknown for regular tourists, so enjoy it while it lasts!

It’s a 20-minute drive to your next stop.

Stroll through Nong Buak Haad Public Park

Next up: Nong Buak Haad Public Park, a beautiful park with lakes, bridges, and palm trees. What better way to enjoy a leisurely stroll than in this setting? If you didn’t eat along the way, you can take advantage of the food and drink stands that can be found in the park. It’s an amazing place to have a relaxing picnic on the grass in a beautiful setting. Make sure to pick a spot in the shade, don’t underestimate the Thai sun!

It’s a 1-minute walk or 3-minute ride to your final stop. It’s up to you!

End your day with some amazing cocktails at Nophaburi Bar

What better way to end your day than with some delicious cocktails? Nophaburi Bar is a cozy cocktail spot nestled in the heart of Chiang Mai. The first thing you’ll notice is the intimate ambiance, the perfect environment for a romantic date night! Get ready for amazing cocktails illuminated by soft candlelight, and prepare to be delighted by their unique selection. What we really liked was the fact that all “usual” liquor was replaced by Thai alternatives. It was a great way to discover the flavors of local liquors! From innovative brews to classic favorites, every drink is expertly crafted to perfection.
