More of Pai
Today you’ll explore more of Pai: the iconic Bamboo Bridge, Lod Cave, and Pai’s vibrant Night Market.
Start your day at Pai’s Bamboo Bridge
Start your day with a leisurely stroll along Pai’s Bamboo Bridge, a beloved landmark in the area. This iconic bridge offers captivating views of the surrounding landscape, and is an experience in its own. Walking over the bridge can feel funny at first, but trust us when we say that it is not dangerous at all. ;-) Along the bridge you’ll find multiple installations where you can shoot those perfect Instagram shots. All around you, you’ll be treated to endless rice fields, majestic mountains, and cozy farming huts. We spent almost 2 hours here, and would say that between one and two hours is the sweet spot. Take your time to soak in the serene ambiance and snap some memorable photos of this picturesque setting!
Buckle up, your next stop is an hour and a half away. We promise it’s worth it!
Explore Tham Lod (Lod Cave)
Continue your day with a thrilling adventure in Tham Lod, also known as Lod Cave. For this activity, it’s time to channel your inner Indiana Jones. At Tham Lod, you’ll explore three different caves with a private guide. The three caves on the agenda are Column Cave, Doll Cave, and Coffin Cave. We can’t give recommendations about which one is better, since they all offer something else. In one cave we saw amazing stalactites and stalagmites, in another there were a lot of bats flying around, and in Coffin Cave we found, well, coffins! Don’t think that that’s all, though. Because halfway through you will have to hop on a bamboo raft! This was a really fun experience, floating on water in a dark cave with hundreds of fish following our raft. Visiting Lod Cave was one of the most unique things we did in Thailand, we highly recommend making a visit!
A relaxing, 1-hour ride through the mountains takes you to the last stop of the day.
Stroll through Pai’s Night Market
End your day with a fun stroll through Pai’s vibrant Night Market. After dark, the streets in Pai come alive with the aroma of delicious street food everywhere you go. We found it difficult to resist all the food, so… we didn’t! We tried some savory empanadas, dumplings, waffles with chocolate and banana, … the list goes on. The highlight of the food experience was probably the delicious chicken Banh Mi we ate for around € 2. The portion was huge, and the taste was incredible. We forgot the name of the place, but don’t worry about not finding where to buy it. The moment you see dozens (yes, dozens) of people queuing in front of a restaurant, then you’ll know where to be! It’s the most popular food spot of the market, and with good reason. ;-) Once you’re done eating, take place at one of the many bars along the way.
