Day 1: Squirrelpath and AlpArosa
During the first day, we've walked a small part of the squirrel path and headed further to the AlpArosa restaurant. It's a though hiking day with 16 kilometers and an altitude of 700 meters. At the end of the day, you can relax in a nice mountain hotel.

Scenic train to Arosa
The first activity of the day is taking the train. Normally it’s not that exciting, but this train is different. From the city Chur, you drive in one hour to Arosa via a scenic route. You leave the city behind you and slowly enter the mountains. The train passes some small and cute trainstops before arriving in Arosa, and the panoramic view from the train are amazing. The perfect time to slowly immerse yourself in the mountains.

Walk with squirrels
An idyllic trail winds from the village through the forest to Maran, offering delightful moments along the way. Squirrels and birds are so friendly that they eat straight from your hand, making the 1.7 km journey a treat for animal lovers. Informative signs with puzzles provide fascinating insights about the forest's inhabitants. At the end of the trail, you can also enjoy a barbecue area, and Arosa Tourism offers an exciting puzzle booklet. This is probably also a great activity with kids.

Hike to AlpArosa
After feeding the squirrels, we hiked along the northern side of the Arosa area towards the Langwieser viewpoint. Here, you get an amazing view on the surrounding area. Following on that, we hiked further towards the Prätschalp. This cozy hut is only open in the weekends and in winter, but was unfortunately closed when we passed it (due to the bad weather conditions). Afterwards, we descended a bit in a beautiful forest, passing by the mid-station of the Weisshorn cable car, further to our next stop: AlpArosa. In this rather fancy restaurant, with a panoramic view over the mountains, we enjoyed some hot chocolate during a cold winterday. The restaurant is renovated but kept its authentic and charming details. Worth walking for! Subsequently, we climbed up to another mountain hut, also open in winter: the Carmennahütte. Nevertheless, this hut was also closed because of bad weather (and therefore less people going there). Via a steep descent, we eventually reached our hotel: Alpenblick Hotel Arosa.

Sleep in Alpenblick Arosa
Our last stop of the day is Alpenblick Arosa, where we stayed for the night. This hotel really looks like what you would expect from a mountain hotel. The panoramic terrace is perfect for catching op the first sunbeams of the day. The hotel rooms are very clean and the diner was just perfect.
