Mount Rigi - Queen of the Mountains
Mount Rigi, also known as ‘Queen of the Mountains’ is one of the top places to visit in Switzerland and one of the best day trips from Lucerne. Mount Rigi is located in the center of the country and therefore easily reachable from all directions.





Rigi Bahn, oldest mountain railway in Europe
The scenic railway journey to Mount Rigi is incredible with spectacular views. Getting to Mount Rigi is already a highlight. - From Vitznau: take the rack railway, the trip takes about half an hour and departures take place throughout the day. It’s one of the best ways to reach the top. - From Weggis: take the cable car. The aerial journey takes you over the forested, rugged, rocky landscape to the top. The trip takes only 10 minutes. - From Arth Goldau: take the cogwheel train to Rigi Kulm. The scenic Rigi bahn journey takes around 40 minutes.




Mount Rigi - Rigi Kulm
Mount Rigi or Queen of the Mountains, is a Massif forming part of the Alps in het heart of Switzerland. Mount Rigi is almost fully surrounded by the waters of Lake Lucerne, Lake Lauerz and Lake Zug, making it stand out from other mountain areas. Rigi Kulm is Mount Rigi’s highest peak at almost 1800 meters above sea level. Enjoy this peaceful place with stunning 360 degree views over the waters. Mount Rigi is located around 22 kilometers from Lucerne.




Rigi Staffel and Klösterli
Rigi Staffel is something of a crossroads for the mountain. Both railway routes pass by on their way up or down the mountain. Various hiking trails are starting here to other areas such as Klösterli, Kaltbad and Seebodenalp.
