Collpapampa – Lucmabamba
Distance of day 3: 12,3 km. Accommodation of day 3: Jungle Domes.

Morning jungle trek
Day 3 began at a very reasonable 5:30 AM, which felt downright luxurious by this point! This was the “relaxed” day of the trek, walking through a vibrant jungle full of lush greenery and the surprise of a waterfall here and there. There’s no elevation gain or climbing on day three, so we suggest making the most of it! Now’s the time to rest your legs 😉

Coffee farm
Just before reaching camp, we made a detour to a coffee farm, where we got a behind-the-scenes look at the coffee-making process. You’ll learn all about the different types of coffee beans, where and how they grow, how they’re harvested,... all the way to the final product. Even for non-coffee drinkers, this was pretty impressive! We even got to taste an espresso all of us made together. We can tell you, it was the strongest coffee we ever tasted!

Jungle domes & hot springs
Our camp for the night was set in the heart of the jungle, with spacious domes that gave us a front-row seat to the surrounding greenery. After lunch, we all jumped at the chance to soak in some local hot springs. The pools ranged from warm to piping hot, and after days of hiking that soak was absolute bliss. Not only did we enjoy this calmer day of hiking, the heat was great for healing our muscles, too (or so we’re told). We highly recommend going on the optional hot springs trip to give your body every chance to conquer day 4!
