Visit vintage shop Odile Houx

We're not starting this day with food, as we have a big brunch coming up later. First do what Maastricht is (among other things) famous for: shopping! Not the big stores - no, head to the vintage shop Odile Houx in Sint-Pieter and try to score a designer item on sale.

Laat je auto bij de winkel staan of rijd omhoog richting de Sint-Pietersberg en parkeer hem op de grotere parkeerplaats daar.

Morning hike on the Sint-Pietersberg

Now stretch your legs during a beautiful walk in nature on and around the Sint-Pietersberg. This is the border between the Netherlands and Belgium. On top of the hill, you'll have a wonderful view over the region. Any route you choose when starting this hike, it'll be crossing panorama's and forests. Nice to know along the route: the ENCI limestone quarry is located here. Worth to take a look at, as it looks like a very blue natural pool.

Brunch at Bijzonder

Just a few metres from the place where you started your walk, you can find a cosy and healthy brunch spot: Bijzonder. You deserved it! ;-) The owner is a super friendly woman, happy to serve you a yummy brunch to fuel your energy level.

Ga naar het centrum van Maastricht en parkeer uw auto in de OLV-parking of de Mosae Forum-parking.

Strolling and shopping in the city center

Now take your time to discover the city center of Maastricht - for me definitely one of the most authentic cities in The Netherlands. The alleys are romantic, the people are friendly (gotta love the accent here) and the shops surprising. The can't-miss area: Wyck. With atmospheric streets, hip hotels, authentic stores and great horeca options, this district is what Maastricht stands for for me. Nice spot to have a drink in Wyck: Café Zuyd (especially on their terrace in summer).

Dinner at Café Sjiek

Time for the most lovely café/restaurant in Maastricht: Café Sjiek! No reservations possible, but they'll be happy to give you a (bar) seat while waiting. Not enough space? Then you can sit at someone else's table (being social is a must here ;-) ). Expect traditional dishes, lots of wine and... new friends. I've been here over ten times and would still choose this place over any other restaurant in Maastricht.
