Weerribben-Wieden NP and Giethoorn
Enjoy the nature trails surrounding Visitor Center De Wieden and grab lunch at the local tea house. Rent an e-bike to discover the surprising Weerribben-Wieden National Park - a mixture of vast wetlands and picturesque villages such as Blokzijl and Giethoorn.

The next day we headed to the regional Visitor Center, the ideal starting point for exploring the Weerribben-Wieden National Park. After a chat with the local guides, we wandered along the floating nature trails, keeping an eye out for otters, and picked up a bit of history about the old turf workers along the way.

Lunch bij Theehuis de Wieden
Voor de lunch kozen we het gezellige Theehuis de Wieden, vlak naast het bezoekerscentrum. Ze serveren zelfgemaakte broodjes, soep en heerlijke taarten. We genoten van de zon en de rustige omgeving op hun buitenterras.
E-bike through Weerribben-Wieden NP
A short drive later we rented e-bikes from one of the local shops in Giethoorn and set off on a stunning ride through the Weerribben-Wieden National Park. The route took us past dreamy river-side mansions, tiny villages and huge farms - and even included a river crossing on a small bicycle ferry with a ferryman. Along the way we stopped for a well-deserved 'aperitivo' in the charming historical town of Blokzijl - definitely a must-visit!
Giethoorn
Last but not least, bezochten we Giethoorn, vaak het 'Venetië van het Noorden' genoemd. Met zijn kronkelende waterwegen, honderden houten bruggen en cottages met rieten daken, voelde het echt als een sprookje.
