Discovering Irrawaddy Dolphins in the Wild
Embark on a boat trip in Kratie, Cambodia, to see the Irrawaddy dolphin's. It is one of the region's most popular eco-tourism activities. These critically endangered freshwater dolphins are primarily found in a stretch of the Mekong River near the town. Irrawaddy dolphins are unique due to their rounded heads. They are known for their shy nature, but are often spotted swimming in pairs or small groups. You will typically embark on a small motorised boat for about 1-2 hours. The boats are slow-moving, allowing for peaceful observation without disturbing the dolphins. Dolphin sightings are of course not guaranteed, but are quite frequent in the designated dolphin zones.
