Geniet van het backpackersparadijs Kampot
Kampot is een charmante stad aan de rivier in het zuiden van Cambodja, bekend om zijn ontspannen sfeer en prachtige natuurlijke omgeving. De stad is beroemd om zijn Kampot-peper, een van de beste ter wereld, en je kunt lokale peperplantages bezoeken om meer te leren over de teelt. Je kunt ook de zoutpannen, het nabijgelegen krabben dorp bezoeken en genieten van de tijd aan de rivier. We brengen hier maar één dag door, maar je zou gemakkelijk meer tijd kunnen doorbrengen als je je tijd goed plant. Het is een backpackersparadijs met relaxte accommodatie.
Pepper plantation
Visiting a pepper plantation can easily be done in Kampot. There’s a huge pepper plantation, established by a Belgian in 2013, which offers free guiding tours on the property. You will learn more about the pepper production, the different kind of products and be able to taste a variety of peppers they make here. There are both French and English tours which you can join. No need to book anything in advance. It’s a beautiful farm with Khmer-style architecture and has a huge social impact on the surrounding community.
Salt fields in Kampot
Kampot has a lot of salt fields where you can see how the salt is harvested. It’s a great experience and we recommend to visit this either early in the morning or right before sunset, to have the most epic views. The fields are huge and you are free to walk around. It’s great if you come with a guide as they will be able to give you more information on the salt process, and because they know exactly where to be.
