Kandy
Het is tijd om Sigiriya te verlaten en naar Kandy te gaan. Een must-see is de beroemde Tempel van de Tand, gebouwd om de tandrelikwie van Boeddha te beschermen. De geschiedenis van de relikwie omvat een lang verhaal, dat teruggaat tot de crematie van Boeddha waar de tand naar verluidt is overleefd. Vochtige en geassocieerd met wonderen, is het een heilige plaats geworden die aan die vereerde tand is gewijd. De tempel is versierd met goud en kunst, en het museum biedt een rijke tentoonstelling. 's Avonds staat er een traditionele dansvoorstelling op het programma. Het was zonder twijfel een van de slechtste die we hebben gezien. Gretig om de volgende dag te wandelen, verkennen we de minder bekende Hanthana. Aangekomen op een plek langs de theevelden, beklimmen we een heuvel. De steile klim vereist een moment van herstel op de top. Daarna verkennen we de omgeving met de tuktuk, een adembenemend gezicht. De volgende dag zal een reisdag zijn.
Temple of the Tooth
One of the main attractions in Kandy is the temple of the tooth. It was built to safeguard Buddha's canine tooth relic. The relic's history involves a lengthy narrative, tracing back to Buddha's cremation where the tooth supposedly survived. Fought over and associated with miracles, it has become a sacred site dedicated to that revered tooth. The temple is adorned with gold and art, and the museum offers a rich display.

Hiking in unknown Hanthana
Hiking in Hanthana, a picturesque mountain range located near Kandy in Sri Lanka, offers outdoor enthusiasts a wonderful adventure. The Hanthana mountain range is known for its lush, tropical forests and diverse wildlife. Hikers can explore numerous trails that wind through dense vegetation, leading to viewpoints that provide stunning panoramas of the surrounding countryside. The cool, misty climate in the higher elevations is a welcome respite from the tropical heat, making it an ideal location for hiking. You can also drive around the area and see numerous tea plantations.

Located in the heart of Kandy, this restaurant offers a range of international and local dishes that cater to a variety of tastes. The warm and inviting ambiance, often accompanied by live music, creates the perfect setting for a relaxing evening. We have been here twice because we loved this place so much, so I can highly recommend.
