Sri Lanka
Galle / Unawatuna

Visit the colonial town of Galle
Galle boasts a picturesque blend of Dutch influences and maritime charm. Wander through the quaint streets adorned with colonial-era architecture, where charming boutiques and cafes echo the city's rich heritage. The iconic Galle Lighthouse, standing tall against the ocean backdrop, makes you wonder about the history of this town that has been in a few battles. It’s nice to wander around the city for a few hours but we don’t see the value in spending more days here. You can easily park near the lighthouse, or at the Galle Fort.

Lunch and surf at Sebu Lounge
On the way from Galle to Unawatuna you can find SEBU Lounge, a new restaurant at the beach with surf vibes. Their vision is not only to bring fresh ingredients to the table but also to create a dining experience. The menu is a good combination between Western and Sri Lankan food, and has lots of veggie and vegan options. You can easily arrange surf lessons here as this area is well fit for surfers of any level. The waves are very calm which makes it an easy spot for beginners to practice.

Swim with turtles in Unawatuna
Swimming with turtles can be done in numerous locations at the South Coast and Unawatuna is no exception. Head to Wijaya beach to stay away from the crowds and to encounter these majestic animals. There are people selling food for the turtles, we recommend not to participate in such activities.
