Salò, een van de parels van het Gardameer
Salò ligt aan de westelijke oevers van het Gardameer en is omgeven door een prachtig landschap, in het hart van de regio Lombardije. Salò heeft de langste 'lungolago' (promenade) van alle stadjes aan het meer en biedt een pittoreske omgeving met de kenmerkende en kleurrijke gebouwen en boten. Het is perfect voor een romantische (avond)wandeling met een ontspannen sfeer en een aperitief bij zonsondergang. Daarnaast is Salò ook een cultureel en historisch juweel. Binnen zijn muren kun je de kathedraal, het Palazzo della Magnifica Patria, het Musa-museum,… bezoeken. Salò is een van de oudste steden aan het Gardameer.
Palazzo della Magnifica Patria and the Piazza della Vittoria
The Palazzo della Magnifica Patria, also called Palazzo del Podestà or Capitano Rettore, is today the seat of Salò’s town hall. By the lake and next to the town hall, you can find the Piazza della Vittoria, Salò’s main square. In the middle is standing the imposing war memoria. This square is also the docking area for the Navigazione Garda, for those who prefer to come to Salò by boat.
Duomo di Salò
Salò’s duomo or cathedral is the city’s most important monument. It represents not only one of the city’s architectural gems, it is also the largest church at Lake Garda.
Lungolago Zanardelli
Lungolago Zanardelli is one of the most beautiful promenades along Lake Garda. The promenade offers breathtaking views on the azure waters and majestic mountain ranges in the background. The promenade is perfect to take a relaxing walk or to sit on one of the benches and enjoy the enchanting scenery and atmosphere of Salò.
Via San Carlo
Walk down the Via San Carlo with its elegant boutiques and wander through the charming streets with historic palaces and squares, centuries-old churches and Art Nouveau villas.
Bell Tower
The bell tower, also known as the Porta dell’Orologio is one of the city’s symbols and leads you to the heart of the historic city centre.
