Zo klein maar zo mooi: de oude stad van Kotor heeft veel smalle steegjes om te ontdekken. Betreed de oude stad via de poort van de dikke muur en dwaal gewoon door de vele straten. Je zult veel katten, orthodoxe kerken en leuke bars tegenkomen.

Traditionele restaurants worden 'Konoba' genoemd in Montenegro. Konoba Scala Santa is een van die geweldige traditionele restaurants waar je kunt genieten van een glas Montenegrijnse witte wijn (kies Mola) en geweldige vis, romige risotto en verse salades. Het personeel is supervriendelijk en je kunt altijd de katten op het plein in de buurt aaien.
Climb the ladder of Kotor
To get the best view over the bay of Kotor, climb the 'ladder of Kotor'. This free alternative to the touristy route (€8) to the San Giovanni Fortress, is easy to access just outside of the walled old town. Cross two bridges and turn right to start the trail of rocks and pebbles. Make sure you wear decent shoes! After 30 minutes, you will already have climbed a significant amount. Make sure you count in enough time before the sun sets, since the road has no lights. 40 minutes in, this is where it gets exciting: climb through the opening of the old fortified wall to access the regular, touristy steps to get to the fortress. There used to be a big opening, but nowadays you have to climb through a window-like opening. No worries, other people built 'stairs' with wood and rocks. Enjoy the beautiful views on the bay of Kotor.
