Een dag aan de zuidwestkust
Van een waterval die op de weg stort en wandelen door een bananenplantage tot ontspannen op het strand. We eindigen de dag met een zonsondergang diner voor onze deur.
Cascata dos Anjos
Imagine a waterfall crashing down on the road below. This is an iconic place on the Madeira island. The road isn't operational anymore, but it isn't closed so some dare devils still ride their car underneath.
Just a few minutes away from the waterfall is the little village of Madalena do Mar. Park your car near the start of the banana hike.
A short hike through the banana plantations (RB2)
Are you on the south coast of Madeira? Head over to the coastal town of Madalena do Mar for a 1.5 km stroll through the banana plantations. This part of the island is known for its banana production and it creates a scenic backdrop together with the cliffs and the blue Atlantic Ocean.
Ride back in the direction of the waterfall. After the roundabout you continue 200m and just before the first tunnel you park next to the road.
Relaxing on the beach
In between the waterfall and the banana hike you can find the 'Praia dos pescadores'-beach. This pebble beach has a few wooden platforms to lay down. And the beach bar Blaiken has both cold drinks and tasty snacks.
Sunset dinner on our doorstep
After a relaxing afternoon on the beach we head back to our Airbnb near Raposeira Do Logarinho for a quick dinner we cook in our kitchen and take with us for a little stroll of 100m to a beautiful viewpoint overlooking the Atlantic Ocean for a sunset.
