Sossusvlei: als een andere wereld
Van zonsopgang tot zonsondergang draait deze dag helemaal om het verkennen van de surrealistische landschappen van Sossusvlei, te beginnen met een onvergetelijke ochtend in Deadvlei.
Sunrise in the Deadvlei of Namibia
Wake up very early and head of straight to the Sossusvlei, it will be so worth it! Enter the park when it's still dark, and drive for an hour to the Deadvlei. After arriving at the "parking lot" in the middle of nowhere, you still need to walk for another kilometer through the desert sand. This place is truly surreal, especially with the golden sun shining on it during sunrise—absolutely stunning. Between the dunes lies a white clay pan, where 700-year-old trees eerily jut out of the ground. It made for some breathtaking photos.
Walking though a canyon in Namibia
Just 4.5 km from the entrance of the Namib-Naukluft National Park lies the Sesriem Canyon, a natural wonder shaped by the Tsauchab River over millions of years. Unlike much of the landscape surrounding it, this canyon can hold water throughout the year, making it a rare oasis in the desert. The name 'Sesriem' comes from early Afrikaans explorers who found themselves needing to tie together six (“ses”) leather straps (“riem”) to lower buckets down into the canyon to collect water. Visitors can park their vehicles nearby and take a walk through the canyon’s winding paths. Some parts are quite narrow, with stunning rock formations.

We spend the rest of the afternoon surrounded by the Sossusvlei. The colors, the dunes, the wild life. This place is everything!
