A day in a world class city.

When you arrive by Eurostar in London it's a good idea to leave St Pancrass station before taking the underground to your destination. A good idea is to take a welcome coffee in the lobby, bar, of the Renaissance hotel. A marvelous building just next to the railway station. Have a look in the breakfast room, it’s a great start.

A bit of shopping and a memorable lunch .

Take a stop at Selfridges, not a big surprise, but a great spot where you can find as one of the unique selling points outside the USA the "Trish Mc Evoy" make up line. For the man: stop there for a present for your female family members. Continue to Mayfair, it’s probably time for a small lunch and go to Mayfair Mercato. A redevelopment of a church into a restaurant market. Great atmosphere and good food. Go also to the cellar and drink a glass of wine of home brewed beer. In summer you can have your lunch or dinner at a terrace. The neighbour of Mayfair Mercato is a fish and chips restaurant. We didn’t eat there but we saw a long line of locals queuing up for a take away. If you want more? Just around the corner at Grosvenor Square in the Marriott Bonvoy hotel you can eat in one of Gordon Ramsays restaurants: the Bar and grill, or for Asian lovers the “lucky cat”. Only for the name…

Retournez à Oxford Street et allez en direction d'Oxford Circus.

Exclusive shopping, prepare your credit card or put it in a safe place

Walk back to Bond street underground station and go to S.Molton street. A lovely street (no cars) with boutique shops, just next to the big shops of Oxford Street. If you walk to the end, cross the street and walk into the very small “streets” of The Courtyard, a hidden spot for dining Al fresco in London city. In winter it’s also worth a stop. You find some nice boutiques, even an Alexander McQueen outlet shop. Go back to the entrance of the small streets and go to New Bond Street, the shopping walhalla for the rich and famous. But great to have a look at the shops. In the Christmas season it looks more like a light show. A coffee? Why don’t you stop for a take away coffee at Ralph Lauren’s shop. The queue is where you need to be. Continue to Piccadilly , go left and walk through the beautiful Burlington Arcade. Walk it up and down because next stop is Fortnum and Mason. A must do for every visit to London. Is it a traditional shop? Yes! Is it a modern luxury shop? Yes. More British stylish is probably difficult to find.

Test if the child in you is still alive

You do not need a guide to walk through Regent Street. What a shopping spot. Before you go the most British department shop in the world , Liberty's, there is must do stop…the worlds most famous toy shop. Where enthousiast people demonstrate the last toys, where you can find almost every toy in the world, the whole collection of Harry Potter stuff,…a place that really brings the dream of being a kid alive. Do not hesitate to ask for a demo, they are professional toy players. Waw.

Après une visite à Liberty, promenez-vous jusqu'à Carnaby Street.

Walk to the entrance of Soho

Vibrant Carnaby street is a good street to stroll through. You might have to walk twice through the street as the street lights are so nice that they might steal all your attention.

A visit to one of the London highlights: Covent Garden

From Carnaby street it’s a little walk back to Piccadilly Circus, continue to Leicester square and follow the signs to Covent Garden. A final stop of a day walking in London. Covent garden needs no explanation….
